A SporesMD spore syringe expander turns one compatible 10mL liquid culture syringe into up to 60mL or 100mL, no jars or lab gear required. Pick the 6X for smaller projects or the 10X for the lowest cost per mL. Every mushroom spore syringe expander is prepared in an ISO 7 certified cleanroom, ships discreetly, and is ready to use out of the package.

What Is a Spore Syringe Expander?

A spore syringe expander is a large, sterile expansion syringe that connects to a compatible 10mL liquid culture syringe through a Luer-lock fitting. The transfer happens inside a closed system, so nothing is exposed to open air. That means no jars, no lids, no filters and no stir plate.

New to the hobby? Our guides on what liquid culture is and spore syringe vs liquid culture cover the basics. Each unit is prepared in an ISO 7 cleanroom, the class defined by ISO 14644-1.

6X vs 10X: Choosing Your Spore Syringe Multiplier

The Spore Syringe Expander 6X takes one 10mL syringe up to 60mL, ships with 6 sterile needles and costs $24.99. The Spore Syringe Expander 10X takes the same 10mL up to 100mL, ships with 10 sterile needles and costs $34.99.

Per mL, the 10X works out to about $0.35 against $0.42 for the 6X, so it is the better value if you plan more than a handful of applications. The 6X suits smaller projects and anyone trying a spore syringe multiplier for the first time. Subscribe and save 20% on either size and pay $19.99 or $27.99.

What’s Inside Each Spore Syringe Expansion Kit

Each kit includes the sterile expansion syringe, the Luer-lock connection and either 6 or 10 sterile needles. The only thing you add is one compatible 10mL liquid culture syringe.

Our culinary liquid cultures are a natural match, including the Blue Oyster liquid culture syringe and the Lion’s Mane liquid culture syringe, two popular specialty mushrooms grown by hobbyists and small farms. Antler Reishi is another favorite from our functional range.

How the Syringe-to-Syringe Transfer Works

Remove the needle from your 10mL liquid culture syringe and attach it to the expander’s Luer-lock port. Draw back the expander plunger to transfer the culture, then mix gently every few days so it spreads evenly through the larger volume.

When you are ready to use it, fit a fresh sterile needle for each application to keep contamination out. A 33-second demo video on each product page shows the full process.

Storage, Safety and Lawful Use

Store your expander at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children. It is not for injection into humans or animals. Use it only with compatible, legal mushroom liquid cultures and for lawful purposes.

After each application, dispose of used needles safely in a sharps container. Ready to pick a size? Shop the 6X or 10X above.
